Crochet Star Pattern

These crochet stars are so quick and easy to make! I won't get into a ramble-y post, but there are so many ways you can use these cute little guys! Decorate a card or gift, make a tree ornament, or a bunting, or if your kids know crochet basics, let them get in on the fun and let them make little gift packs for family members. Who wouldn't love a set of 3 hand-crocheted star ornaments from a little one!? Click here for a video tutorial

Note: Gauge truly doesn't matter. This is a stash buster to the max and can use any and all types of yarn scraps. Thinner yarn will result in smaller stars while thicker yarn will give you larger ones. Yarn type also doesn't discriminate.. use what you have!

Hook: I have found that a size H/8 - 5.00 mm hook is a pretty decent all arounder for whatever yarn you have, though if you're going super bulky, I'd probably size up 1-2 sizes.

Abbreviations:

ch - chain

dc - double crochet

sc - single crochet

sl-st - slip stitch

st - stitch

The basics:

Start with a magic loop and ch 2. dc 9 inside the magic loop. Pull loop closed and slip stitch in the top of the first ch 2 to join.

*Ch 2, dc in next st, ch 3. sc 3 on stem of dc. sl-st in next st. Repeat from * to end.

Sl-st in the beginning of the first ch 2. Break yarn and weave in ends.
